Venezeula Marlin Fishing

This is a set from October '94 in Venezuela. We were fishing for marlin. The three of us fishing caught one each plus some dorado. The fish are tagged and released almost immediately as they get to the boat to ensure they are not hurt.

I didn't find out till later that a whale shark we saw was a pretty rare thing to see. It was about 35 feet long and was just sitting still in the water right in the middle of a school of tuna going after bait fish. We were trying so hard to put our lines through the tuna nobody thought to get a picture of the shark.

Besides catching the marlin, the best part of the trip was going back and having a dock party with all the boat hands and captains. Turns out our mate was an accomplished sushi chef and our captain was into frying whole turkeys. What a meal.

Rods As I board the boat, you can see I'm amazed at the number of rods we are going to fish with.

Marlin This is Greg's white marlin. Beautiful fish.

Me And me pulling in mine.
