Doug, Our Annual Fishing Guide!

I made this page as my online letter of recommendation for Doug Mikesell. My friend Steve and I have used Doug as our Florida fishing guide for four years now. On each trip Tarpon was our goal, and while you don't catch fish every time your go out, we have always had our shot at them. He is located in Venice, Florida on the Gulf Coast and guides there and parts south, including Boca Grande. Fishing can certainly be a "you should'a been here yesterday" kinda thing, but he always makes the best of it. When the Tarpon haven't been biting, he has managed to get us hooked up with something else, including Snook, Trout and Redfish. He's full of stories, always keeps you entertained, and takes not catching fish personal, so if there's fish to get, he will get them. While we have always used spinning reels, he also goes after fish with fly casting equipment and will also teach you how to do it.
